From the Cookbook of Samantha an American Girl just imagine your eating food from 1904
2 cups flour
4teas baking soda
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup of shortening
3/4 cup milk
Jelly are jam
Sift together the following ingredients. The flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add the shortening use a pastry cutter or a fork to blend the flour mixture and shortening until it looks like course crumbs. Add the milk and stir it with a/the fork until the mixture forms a soft ball of dough. Sprinkle a little flour on a hard surface. Put the ball of dough on the flour and and knead it. Add more flour if the dough sticks. Roll it out until it's about 1/4 of an inch thick. With a glass or a round cookie cutter cut the dough. Like a sugar cookie. Only use half of the dough, when half the dough is gone, make the rest of the dough with the cup or cookie cutter as you did the first half. Except put a small hole made by one inch circular cookie cutter or a bottle cap in the center of them and put the ones with the hole on top of the ones without. So there will be a bottom to the hole. Then fill the holes with with the jelly or jam. Do this to all the biscuits. Cook at 425 for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown . Let them cool and enjoy.
